About Lil Bebe Academy

I am a wife and mother to two beautiful children. Since 2008 I have been providing childcare and have tapped into a very rewarding field. My joy has been the ability to watch the metamorphosis of little gems I call butterflies. Browse the website and see why I love my job ~~*

Pumpkin Seeds

Summer came early for us.  We had great weather and decided to plant some pumpkin seeds.  All the children were involved in this beloved activity.  This was a messy project but its science in the making.   It was a success because it helped each child take turns, use mathematics, learn about gardening and more importantly learn the science of growing plants with seeds.  Happily we were outdoors and the mess was nothing a little hose could not take care of.

We planted these seeds in March and the plants emerged in late April.  Each child got  to take their own tin home.  Hopefully they will have pumpkins for Fall.

Two for me, one for you….

They each had to get their own dirt and put in tins…then place pumpkin seeds in.

Neighborhood Walks

Standard

We enjoy our daily walks around the neighborhood.  We never know what  awaits us.  Our walks allow the children to learn about  spatial skills, mathematical concepts, animals and colors.   The most rewarding aspect of the walk is breathing  fresh air and exercising.  They enjoy going on walks because they get to say hello to the neighbors,  attempt picking the flowers or maybe it’s the illusive bunny that has them going back to that bunny hole over the years.

Do you think I am big now? I am up high on a tree stump!

Community Helpers

The children were totally surprised about this visit. They couldn’t wait to meet the handsome firefighters.

Lil’ Bebe Academy welcomed the visit of the Lombard Fire Department.  The children enjoyed meeting each firefighter.  They learned about the firetruck, hose, suit, the ‘turn out pants’,  helmet and all the gears that aids the firefighters to perform their job.

During the month it was fun learning about hot and cold elements and the danger associated with especially hot things. We explored fire safety in the kitchen , home and around them.  We talked about and practiced hot water safety and the associated colors: red – hot, blue-cold.  Our children enjoyed the activities and thanks to sparky the dog we engaged in online learning and got to make emergency evacuation plans.  Children got a diagram to take home and was able to make the emergency evacuation plan with their families.

At Lil’ Bebe Academy we practice fire and tornado drills bi-monthly.  It is always a good thing to practice with these skills with children.  Ask them the number to call when in trouble and they will all blurt 911.  Keep practicing children!

The long awaited surprise is finally here ….
