About Lil Bebe Academy

Moon Swirl Art

Standard

Children making art to represent the swirls on the moon.  This art work was done during our March theme which was based on nursery rhymes. Our nursery rhyme for that week was, ‘The Cow Jumped Over The Moon.’  It is during this week that we explained the phases of the moon which had the kids singing a song from you tube which we found here.

Materials needed

Blue & white paint, straw and card stock or construction paper

Children were then asked to blow in straw to create patterns = moon swirls.

Each child takes their turn with the color on the arch…

After the Red and Orange we had to find an easier way to get 6 kids to be patient with taking turns

We decided each child should hand print all their colors and take turns with that technique…it worked

Trying to outsmart a Toddler

Standard

He loves to open the door leading to garage- so we got a lock for it. It did not help that he thought of a way to attempt opening the lock. Yep the smarty pants pulled the paint bucket and jumped on…He kind I reminds me of a cat attempting to eat a meal.

Cindy Moo – Jumps over the Moon

Image

Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon.
The little dog laughed to see such fun
And the dish ran away with the spoon!

This book Cindy Moo is written by Loris Mortensen and Illustrated by Jeff Mack

Cindy is jumping over the moon – with the help of the rain which, created a little puddle and the reflection of the moon….she did it!

Each child had to retell the story, with that came creative dialogues about Cindy’s challenge and eventual adventure.  One child said, “Cindy can fly like an owl!”  Who knows what image a child conjures with the sight of a moon, pond and animals around:)

After our story and comprehension we practiced jumping over the moon – with the help of a baby Boppy.
