Fresh Air and Play Time

Fresh Air and Play Time

Our little daycare with a ‘Big Heart’ spends many hours outdoors.  Outdoor play is very important to us.  Children are happier when outdoors.  They have the freedom to explore, play and make countless discoveries. I am happier when the children are happy.  Want a stress free day?  Let the children play outdoors…don’t just watch them play but, get into the play with them. Release the stress and anxieties of a day by playing, dancing and exercising,  boost your feel good endorphins.  Another bonus is that the days go by faster.

It doesn’t matter the season..we dress for it and make the best use of the outdoors.

Garbage Day

Standard

We have been studying about Renew, Recycle and Re-use. Fittingly our garbage day is on Wednesdays and the children anxiously awaited the garbage truck to see how it disposes of our garbage.
Some of the words they learned this week are: dump, landfill, dispose and incinerator.

Moon Swirl Art

Standard

Children making art to represent the swirls on the moon.  This art work was done during our March theme which was based on nursery rhymes. Our nursery rhyme for that week was, ‘The Cow Jumped Over The Moon.’  It is during this week that we explained the phases of the moon which had the kids singing a song from you tube which we found here.

Materials needed

Blue & white paint, straw and card stock or construction paper

Children were then asked to blow in straw to create patterns = moon swirls.

Each child takes their turn with the color on the arch…

After the Red and Orange we had to find an easier way to get 6 kids to be patient with taking turns

We decided each child should hand print all their colors and take turns with that technique…it worked
