Summer came early for us. We had great weather and decided to plant some pumpkin seeds. All the children were involved in this beloved activity. This was a messy project but its science in the making. It was a success because it helped each child take turns, use mathematics, learn about gardening and more importantly learn the science of growing plants with seeds. Happily we were outdoors and the mess was nothing a little hose could not take care of.
We planted these seeds in March and the plants emerged in late April. Each child got to take their own tin home. Hopefully they will have pumpkins for Fall.
